The original picture was at about 8 to 9 weeks. She's a shade under 24 weeks now. I still need to post updated pictures, but it's still dark here, raining buckets, and my camera battery is charging ...
Her pattern is just kind of weird at this point. She's not barred the way she was, with those straught horizontal lines. Instead, a lot of those lines have kind of elongated in the middle, like they WANT to be lacing. But it doesn't quite make it. Some feathers show some lacing, but it's messy. In addition, most of her tailfeathers have black on them, but it's stippled, kind of like you took a brown feather and spattered a fine spray of black ink on it.
I have learned since this original posting that hatchery birds were used as the starting point in this particular breeder's line. Whether this is the result of poor selection or some throwback genes from outcrossing suddently appeared is anyone's guess. Certainly, I don't know.
