Ok I have posted before on this topic....
I have 8 Barred chicks with Straight combs yellowish legs from Ideal.
I ordered 3 Barred Hollands
to complicate things
I also ordered 3 Heavy Assorted Pullets and 4 Rare pullets to balance out my order, I was shorted 3 Austrlops in my order.
So it looks something like this - all pullets
3 Barred Hollands
3 Heavys assortment
4 Rare assortment
- 3 Austrlops (missing)
I have accounted for 2 of the heavy assortment
2 RIR
I have accounted for 2 of the Rare breeds
1 Danish Leghorn, 1 La Fleche, and another black chick we don't know what it is yet! at 5 weeks no comb devloment at ALL but otherwise looks JUST like the La Fleche but looks nothing like my prior australops.

So I have 2-3 unacounted for from my assortments
3 Australops
and I have a TOTAL of 8 Barred chicks!

3 of the 8 should be my barred Hollands.

I spoke with Ideal today - hoping they could help me figure out what chicks are my barred hollands?
the gal on the phone figured the extra barred would be BPR not hollands?

sigh

Someone in another thread when I asked about this a few weeks ago suggested I wait on earlobes <G> you see Barred Hollands lay white eggs! but turns out they still have RED earlobes!

sigh......

SO

suggestions?
I can do pictures tonight? what would you want to see, what angle
I can't see ANY difference in these chicks. I suppose it is possible they are all barred Hollands? but the gal at Ideal thought that was unlikley.

THANK YOU

oh one way to tell? wait until they start laying! but I had planned on keeping at most 2 of the Barred Hollands not 8 <G> I suppose I can just chalk it up to live and learn!
after all I do have my Danish Leghorn to pick up the white egg laying for me! she seems to have a good personality.

sorry I got lost reading this one.

I'm a little confused as well.

Are you saying that you got extra chicks but do not know if they are BR or the Hollands??

If they are extras, also don't forget they could be Black sex-link males, which look like barred rocks.

sorry it is all clear in my mind

I don't think I have any males
the chicks are 5 weeks old
I ordered 25 pullets

in short
I have 8 Barred chicks - part of an assortment and somehow used to replace my "Missing" Austrlops.

I ordered only 3 Barred hollands.

is there ANYWAY to tell them apart from a BPR?
