Laid another fairy egg? I she a pullet? It may take time for her reproductive organs to get organized but let us know if she does it again. We may have to call in the Educators for a consult.

Lol, yes, another! She's actually older, maybe about 6? I'm also not 100% its her, but I'm quite confident it is as I'll find her in the nesting box. She laid last year for sure, and not sure if she's laid this year, since her and my Dominique's are hard to tell apart.

3 eggs today, from Helmi (1) and Août (2).

Août laid a soft egg and a regular egg. She has also lost a few flight feathers lately, so I believe her to be stressed. There is a stray cat who had her kittens in one of our outbuildings, and has been prowling around. I think she is most likely the cause of the upset.

We tried to take in one of her kittens as a pet, but it seems to have had some neurological problems, and we had to put it down today after it had a seizure. It’s been a pretty sad day all around.

But it was also the day my three pullets became one year old. Hen Day! I tried to celebrate it with them by giving them a little sweet corn, which I know they appreciated

Though one slippery little one jumped from my hand and now has a hairline fracture on its noggin. I’ll keep the one for my use along with the wee little one from Holly, I think this is her 6th egg.

I keep wondering when they will slow down or stop! I will have some unhappy customers when that happens. I don’t plan on replacing any hens any time soon. So if they start slowing down so be it.
