Barred Indiana red suggestions

What's the advantage of using Jersey Giant? Slow growing, coarse meat texture and average egg production if from breeder stock.

Are you trying to make a red barred bird or is there some other color combo you want? Would take three generations for red barring. Barred over New Hampshire, male offspring back to dam and hatch a ton of chicks. There's a multitude of colors to be had and would take a hundred chicks to see them all (1 in 64 are chances for a few of the colors in that cross, red barred included). Anywho, mate two matching color combos you want. Offspring of that pairing should breed true.

Playing with a genetics calc for fun see you can get gold barred too. It took a lot of generations starting with red columbian but the New Hampshire has gold already so probably not too bad. It was in attempt to get a yellow/gold barred female, cockerels were in second crossing. Kept putting the yellow barred K over red barred sisters and voilia! Both sexes of gold barred came up. The yellow barred female arrived too.
