Barred New Hampshires

Aren't they sweetie-peas!! I'm familiar with the head spot sexing, I raise Dominiques. It's neat to see how that barring trait is used to develop other auto-sexing breeds.

I think rc50 has the right idea. colour sexing light/dark chickens. The wobbly spot was on my chicks for the first few crosses but as I crossed more and more back to the new hampshire the dot disappeared. I am hoping I have crossed back enough times now to sex by colour.

Kieth has it down! he has been working on this breed for a while.
I got eggs from him and the boys are light, light yellow, almost white. Girls are rusty red.

I am doing all auto-sexing breeds. What I see is, ALL boys are the lighter version. Girls are darker.
And the color is Crele. The Maraduna Basque do not have it down 100%. We have 3, one roo, one hen, and a hen that looks like the roo.
Jaerhon: Girls are reddish brown with a dot on their head, Boys are more light carmal with bigger head spots and maybe white down thier backs.
Legbars: Girls are chipmunk, Boy are reddish brown with a dot on their head and sometime white else where
Crele Polish: Girl are dark, almost black with a very small white dot on their head, Boys are more gray with light gray stripes (reverse chipmunk?) on their backs, white spot is bigger.
Gold Cuckoo Marans: Girls are Very dark brown/Black with possible white dot on head, Boys are reddish brown with a dot on their head.
Hambars/Hampbars: Girls are list rusty reddish, Boys are Light Yellow to white.

These are the auto-sexing breeds we have. We are looking for Black Isbars too.

Thanks for that. Hens are not back laying yet, but as soon as they are I will be incubating some eggs. Am looking forward to seeing how the chickens will emerge. The last lot of eggs I hatched the chickens turned out to be 6 females and 13 males!! No wonder we try to make auto sexing breeds! Mine do not lay quite as well as the pure new hampshires but are not far behind. I think I have to cross back to the hampshire one more time before I can say I have "pure" barred new hampshires (hampbars)
