Have a four week old barred rock chick and ut just differentiates from the rest. Want to confirm that it is a roo before we rehome him since daughters are in love with him.
Comb and wattles are prominent for the age (esp the wattles reddening up). The legs are very yellow (girls tend to have a dark wash down the front).
But the real giveaway is the light color of the barring; pullets and cockerels have different genetics on the barring, and girls are very rarely this light.
