I just hatched out a bunch of barred rock chicks from eggs that my own chickens laid. My question is why is there so much white on these guys. A lot more then what I'm used to seeing when I order them from a hatchery.

Should be interesting to see how they turn out than.He's the only rooster I have and the only other hen I have that lays is a white leghorn and obviously she lays white eggs and her chicks are the white ones in the brooder with the barred rocks. See what I'm talking about lol....mind boggling.
Birds can look purebred but not be. If the rooster and hens are related than recessive gene can show up.
