Looks like the marans follow the same feather pattern as barred rocks as far as males are lighter and more striped and females are darker. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what gender I got.

You young to tell and it’s a cuckoo marans, not a barred rock.

BR’s have yellow legs whereas Cuckoo marans have pinkish white legs.

I don’t think the barring on cuckoo marans pullets is quite as defined as a barred rock. That first pick looks like pretty defined barring. If that’s a marans it’s a boy. Given the recent pick update I’d say cockerel.
