Barred Rock gender?

She looks like my Bruno who I was told was a rooster. I am hoping mine is a girl too!

bruno looks like a rooster depending on age, the male BR seem more black on white backgrounds, the hens vice versa, the first picture is a pullet 100%

Thanks!

Looks like a pullet. But, she is quite dark for a barred rock, not that she isn't a barred rock.

Questions:

1. What color are her legs? Pic?

2. Where did you get her? (Not specific names, just hatchery, feed store, local breeder?)

Pullet... as she gets closer to laying her comb and waddles will develope and get redder too. They can start to lay as early as 16 weeks so she looks right on track.

I only have an older pic of her legs, but they are yellow with black down the front so not a cuckoo maran and she has a single comb so not a dominique. i got her from a feed store.

She looks like a "hatchery" type Marans, to me. Doesn't mean much except that I wouldn't expect the large eggs the barred rocks are known for laying.

Barred Rocks have yellow legs.

Marans are supposed to have white legs, but I've seen them with black down the front.

barred rock HENS are supposed to have yellow with black. I would actually be happy with a maran, they lay pretty dark brown eggs, right?
