Barred Rock - Hen or Roo?

Hi, we have two Barred Rock chicks, approximately 5 1/2 weeks old, and we are afraid we've been "roo-ed" again The one on the right has a much bigger comb and visible wattle than the other one. We have never had this breed before. Would love to hear opinions of the experts. TIA!

Looks like you have a pair, one pullet & one cockerel. I'm so sorry!

Yes, that's a cockerel. You can also tell by how light the bird appears compaired to his sister. This is how you can see double barring in the feathers. It makes the cocks appear light, and the pullets appear darker.

I’m afraid you are correct. I’d keep the hen and give the roo back, sell, or rehome if do not want.

You know you can buy female only and this should limit roo happenings. If you did not order a roo get your money back. Good Luck!
