Not sure of the age. I thought she was a she, but now I'm not so sure. She's missing most her tail feathers and other feathers as well so it's hard for me to figure out.

Well thank you for your help in a guess. She/he was with some young roosters that were CLEARLY roosters. I hadn't written her/his number down so when she came up for bidding she looked so different and I loved barred rock I went for it. I wondered why she went so cheep but I got her/him home and saw a spur, about an inch, maybe 2 long, the other foot has a little nub where I spur might emerge. I would think she/he would be crowing by now if it was a rooster, but maybe not. Or maybe she's an older hen? I'm not very good at chickens yet at all so I don't know what to think. She isn't in good feather but she doesn't seem very old to me just cause she's not the size our other barred rock was. I went to our old barred rock's house to compare combs and such. I suppose the truth with emerge in any event at some point.

OOOH, love your reply jetdog!! You seem very sure! She's the only chicken I bought that could be a good layer. The other 3 were just for fun. I think I picked up an elderly silkie and some weird white chicken that looks like a road runner that my daughter just fell in love with! We just rebuilt our coop after loosing several of our beloved flock and rehoming the rest so we were really excited to be ready for chickens of any kind again. I didn't care of I got a useless hens, but really didn't want a rooster.

Looks like a pullet very close to point of lay, I wouldne be surprised if you start finding eggs from her soon.
I say pullet because with the amount of redness and size of the comb, if it were a boy, there would be very distinguishable features. There would be skinny, pointy hackle and saddle feathers and the stance would be more upright and "proud" looking. The body shape of this bird is very plump and hen like.
