Barred Rock or Dominique?!

I got a few of these in an order for Barred Rock pullets I placed last August from Cackle hatchery. Is this a rose comb? I've never seen one in person before. I thought BR's always had single combs! These "fake barred rocks" are also a little nippier than the others. I don't think I'll be using them in any future breeding! (unless they each shoot out 2-3 eggs a day!!

Yep, they look like Heterozygous Rose Combs ( Carrying one Rose comb gene and one Single combed gene) Like you would get from from crossing pure Barred Rock with Pure Dominique.

All of my BRs from Cackle were Single combed like they are supposed to by so I dont know whats going on there.

I wouldnt used them for breeding either unless you were just breeding for mixed layers or something.

Use them with some kind of non barred roo and you can make some black Sexlinks for selling as layers.
