Barred Rock or Plymouth Rock?

They are one in the same. I just learned this my self. Some call them barred rock and some call the Plymouth Rock.

Yep, formal name is Barred Plymouth Rock.

A barred rock IS a Plymouth rock.
Plymouth rock is the breed of which barred is one of at least 8 color varieties.
Other varieties are white, buff, Columbian, partridge, silver penciled and blue.
The breed is the shape and characteristics. The variety is the color.

You have a barred Plymouth rock.
Dominiques look similar but they have a rose comb as opposed to the single comb of a Rock.
