I have 3 BR roos and two have a yellowish tinge to their hackle and saddle feathers. Has anyone seen this on BR roos before? One of the 3 doesn't have any yellowing.

No yellow is not common in hackle feathering in barred rock males. I went through a dozen this year, didn't see any. Had one with a few solid black feathers though - also culled.

Here is a photo that shows the odd coloring... any opinion is appreciated.

That brassiness can be several things. Genetic, sun exposure, too much corn and a couple other things I can't recall at the moment. Bought a BR rooster years ago whose hackles were gold from being fed only corn for most of his life. In a month of proper feed, that was gone. Later on, he did get brassy again, but from sun exposure, which was also lacking in his early life.

Your boy seems to have white legs. If that isn't the picture quality, he isn't a BR, or at least not a pure BR.

I was thinking something other than genetics because he wasn't always that way... he does get a lot of sun but his diet is the same as the others that don't have that coloring. He is the ruler of the roost at the present so I suppose he stays out in the sun more to make sure everyone sees him!

This is how he looked a couple months ago Cynthia... what do you think?

ETA... his legs are yellow, the photo is kinda funky.
