is there anything youy can do to teach a roo, not to attack children?
our barred rock roo keeps attackin our young kids well his days are #ed(to the freezer with him)

is there something we did wrong raising him?
can you handle 1 too much if so thats what we did wrong?

Just try to show him who the boss is.

ive tried that. even chased him around the yard next step would be abuse and i wont do that hell go to the freezer before that happens

The methods may seem to work at first. rooster-red did a write-up on trying to tame an aggressive rooster. That may work with some roosters, and is worth a try, but usually, they are what they are and can't be permanently trained not to attack. Temperament, to a degree, is heritable. They may just bide their time till your back is turned and they think they have the upper hand. Human-aggressive roosters here are sold to someone else (with full disclosure) or made into stew. They are just the right height to take out a young child's eyes.. not worth the risk.

We had a grumpy BR roo too last year and had to "get rid of him"...He would attack me and my daughter. I knew that this wasn't the way I wanted it to be with my next rooster. I have two solutions. I grab the roo by the neck and hold him down till he knows I am "bigger". This worked for Eben Roo our current king. Also my German Shepard belle puts him in his place...pinning but nothing else! I couldn't ask for a cooler roo than Eben Roo. That worked for me! A little assertiveness and a really awesome dog...Good luck!

i picked barred rocks as a breed because they are suposed to be docile, guess not, to the freezer with him. as i wont breed him.

i think ive read that before, but thank you. i ve been orking with him so well see what happens
