Barred rock/Sex Link cross

That's the thing, the Rock standard requires yellar legs and yes, donrae, the birds look stunning, to my eyes, when they have nice legs. Those German birds are terrific, Marvin. In the US, on the ABA has accepted blacks, and so I've not desire to bother with a non standard variety accept for my own sheer pleasure. Europe seems to accept the Black Rock.

It's not like we NEED yet another variety here. But still…….

Well, I must admit that if SHTF, I con not see any reason not to have your resource's for food production to be at a maximum, I have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and I will most likely be depended on to feed them all in a time of catastrophe, it just makes good since to me to get the most for the least amount of effort and cost, plus any extra's that may come with it. I am still developing my plan as I say, To create or recreate a super egg layer. Many of todays most amazing accomplishments have come out of someone stumbling on to something unexpected. Any thought or words of advice would be welcomed as I am not an accomplished breeder or scholar by no means.

I guess my agenda is to have a breed that can forage, be aggressive enough to take care of themselves in the woods ( ie deal with wild house cats ) and be a max producer of large eggs year round. I may be in over my head but I am willing to jump in anyway.

Take a look at Hi Line Silver Brown layers, they lay the most of any hens(about 335 a year) and are not skiny like leghorns, so some meat can be prossesed if need be

I looked at the website. I didn't pursue it because I'm not ready to order. Any price on these and minimum? Thanks
