Barred Rock .... What gender am i?

K. I ordered all pullets and 2 of my barred rock look totally different from one another. Is the one on the left a roo? I have not heard any "cock a doodle doo" yet so I am not sure. They are just over 19 weeks old. Why do they look so different from one another?

Looks like a pullet at POL, but a clearer pic of side profile, saddle and hackle feathers would help lock it down.

My guess is that they just look so different because they are from different parents. Not truly "sisters". Is she squatting when you come near her or investigating your nest boxes yet?

None of them are exploring nest boxes yet. I opened them up a couple weeks ago and put fake plastic eggs in but NOTHING!

A batch of chicks could have come from any number of mothers and fathers. Different pullets sprout wattles and combs at differing times. They can begin laying as much as a month apart.

The one on the left looks like a roo and the one on the right is 100% hen... But that is NOT a rooster coloring...
