She was sold as a pullet, had small white spot on head, not the larger one males have. But now she is trying to challenge my other rooster, and shes only 8.5 weeks old. Comb is deeper red and larger than what I've seen for pullets her age. Of course she was my favorite.
Shes a rooster, isnt she???

Nope. Not yet. Cockerel. "She" will be a rooster, though, on his birthday. At this age, though, the proof is in the color of his feathers. You can usually tell by the time they start feathering at just a few weeks. Here's a picture of some adults. The male is on the left.

She/now he lol, is THE sweetest. Comes right to me, likes to be held. I know that can change as they get older, but man. I have two other roosters. Silikes. Not real chickens lol. One is a jerk and attacks me and the other protects me from him. But doesn't like to be touched or held. Why is it alwasy our favorite ones??? They either drop dead or end up roosters when we cant have more

I mean.....you could get rid of the mean silkie rooster. No guarantee the beloved barred rooster will continue to be sweet though.

We had a shoulder chicken that turned into a real dick around ten weeks.
