The proper name is Barred Plymouth Rock, with "Barred" being the color variety. There are Buff Plymouth Rocks, white, etc.

I have dominique rooster and 6 hens...then 2 barred rock hens.....can I mix them with the dominiques and keep pure dominiques? I heard you could

Any chicks hatched from the barred rock hens will not be pure.

If you just hatched the eggs from your Dominique hens yes they would be pure. But the eggs from the Barred Rocks would be a mixed breed.

Even though they look similar, the difference between Barred Rocks and Dominiques is more than just comb deep.
