Barred Rocks - Gender?

I would have to say all roosters too. They all appear to look the same size, almost identical to me. That is just my opinion. Great looking birds.

Number one is definetely a rooster.
Number two I am not quite sure about.
Number three also looks like a rooster because of the curved tail feathers and pointy neck feathers. Number three also looks like it is starting to develope spurs.

Again , All three are roos, it looks like the last two are heterozygous barred, making them dark like hens, but they are definitley roos.

HEChicken wrote:#1 is a definite rooster. #2 & #3 I think are hens but it would help to know age, and also to see photos from more of a profile, as I can't make out the hackle feathers in these photos. Also, I can see a couple of feathers in each of the tails that appear to curve a little but from this angle I can't see the whole tail. If the tail looks like a fantail, then hen. But if there are pointy saddle feathers in front of the tail and the tails feathers curve back a lot, then rooster.

I agree with HEChicken #1rooster & #2

#1 and #3 are 100% sure cockerels because of their lighter color and shiny, stringy saddle feathers coming in. If you could get a lighter pic of the #2 bird, I can tell you more about that one. None of them will have spurs unless they are over six to seven months old, so that isn't a good indicator (plus I have two hens with spurs anyway).

I will try to get a better pic this afternoon. Thank you all for your input. Looks like #1 & #3 for sure and a strong prob on #2. Now I understand all of the year of the rooster business. This make 8 out of 19!!
