Barred rocks...help me decide

I want to buy hatching eggs from this seller. Her birds (I believe) are true heritage barred rocks. I am basing this solely on how the boys look. Her boys are darker than what I'd hatch from my hatchery stock...and closer to SOP (I believe) as I am not super familiar with it.

I need someone to tell me yes ...they are at least close to SOP...

And yes, it'd be worth the hatch to get a better looking male then I have now...to improve my flock.

I also would like to keep the sexable traits at hatch, and a nice body size as I am using this coop as my dual purpose flock.

Help me...help myself...

6 eggs (even with extras) coming a good ways...I don't know if they stand a chance or not...or if it's worth it...or if I just work with what I have.

What would you do??

Some of my ladies...

I don't necessarily want a flock full of SOP...I am aiming towards a big body (carcass), good laying, nice lovely markings (bars). I also want males to have all pure yellow feet, 5 point comb, and smooth looking bars.

I'd love it if I could hatch them and have them sexable by head spot or leg color...but idk if that'll happen with hatchery stock.


I hatched from someone else's flock and got mixed babies...(supposedly barred rocks...but she also has cukoo marans (sp??) And I believe these ones are mixed based on the boys leg colors and the bars on the female.

I am looking for 2 males to cover my 32 hens....

But I am leaning towards wanting a better quality males....

Help me out...

I'd say they look good breed standard and nicely barred, also that really dark hen looks strangely like Cuckoo Marans but she might just have a darker gray Gene. I'd say go for it! I hope you have some nice hatching!

Thanks, I went back to purchase and the ad was gone. I assume someone else bought what she had left...

Here's to hoping to see it again...if not...I guess the temptation was removed lol
