Hello everyone, i previously posted my BR chixs a couple weeks agoa d would like feed back on them now. In my opinion i think there is about 4-5 roos and 2-3 hens. I hope we come a with a few at least but more would be great. Please let me know if you can tell yet at this age, thank you

They all look like hens to me. My batch this year is getting combs fairly soon, but they're not red at all. Roosters are very distinct by this age by a much lighter color.

Sorry, but I'm fairly sure you have some BR crosses, not pure BRs. I see cockerels in there EXACTLY like several I accidentally got when a Silver Phoenix mated a BR hen, unbeknownst to my friend who gave me eggs from her BR flock. They look like BR pullets in the darker color, but with irregular, ghosty barring like yours have.

The barring is all wrong for a straight BR. And no BR pullet has a huge pink comb at 6 weeks old. Been breeding BRs for years now and many BR cockerels, pullets and some BR crosses have grown up here.

The two on the left are Phoenix x BR cockerels-they get the barring from the mother and are dark because they have only one barring gene, from the mom. They had a sister, who was solid black:

X2.

What' throwing this off is the likelihood that they aren't pure BR. Normally? Yes. It is fairly straightforward to sex hatchery BR. At 6 weeks, the cockerels are bright and are sprouting combs and wattles in vibrant pink/red, while the pullets remain small and dull yellow.

Here are pure BR's that show the decisive traits.

Here is F3 Barred Rock that is crossed out of BSL. You can see how dark he is. When he was 6 weeks old, he'd have fooled a lot of people into thinking pullet with "some pink showing".

I hope they are. i wasw assuming most of them were roos but that would be great if they are all hens or at lwast 5. Theres seven of the BR. Then i have some mixed chicks, polish, sex linked , bantams and a few others. Thanks

Ya some one else said they may be crossed. Now seeing yours i can definetly tell they are crossed. I can tell the diff in your cockeral to the hen in that middle pick. Does it look like some of mine are cockerals then? Or it still may be too hard to tell. Theres one thats a little smaller i dont think i got a pic of it that is way more white than any other one, but the rest are ghostly looking. I hope some are hens
