I have 4.5m old or 5m old barrs some are cochin barred x I don't think they are laying yet and don' seem to be maturing quite as fast as the leghorn/cochin cross when should expect eggs?My leghorn/cochins x are starting to lay they were hatched out first week in nov.barrs were about 1m later.

leghorns tend to develop a bit faster than rocks.

They sound 'on schedule'. It's typical for BRs to start laying at 20-22 weeks. The leghorns do tend to mature quicker....that's probably why your crosses are already laying.

For comparison:
I have BR pullets that were hatch Oct 23. They just started laying in the last 7-10 days...about half of the 8 girls.

Also have pullets (in other breeds) from a Nov 6th hatch. They have not started yet, although they're combs are looking like it could be any day now.
