So I had to move my birds back inside, we had a snowstorm and it dropped to 28, which was far colder than I was hoping for (I haven’t acclimated them to outside yet!) in the meantime, I’ve been trying to mimic “wild” enrichment for them as much as possible. Example: instead of a feeder I “bury” their pellets under a light layer of peat around the cage for them to scratch, add a fan for some light breezes (they LOVE that, they’ll all crowd by it to get their feathers blown) have some shorter “day/night” cycles by varying the light amounts. Is this good practice for when they’re in their outside pen or is it just unnecessary stress? They don’t seem to mind it, still laying well, and my male has actually gotten quite used to me and is no longer dead set on pecking my hand off.
