The impossible happened- all 5 of my turkey eggs had turkeys in them and they all pipped. The only problem was I had them hatching with ducks and sometime during the night the humidity hit 98%. Only 1 made it out and it is doing great. What do I do with one turkey- can I put it with my bantam chicks in the brooder or should I put it with the ducks? Will it have to have a separate home from the ducks and chickens both when it gets bigger? I don't know anything about turkeys - I didn't expect them to hatch really since I was clueless about incubating them. Can I feed it unmediated 20% chick feed? Any info would be helpful

I use a gamebird starter that is I believe around 30% protein. My feedstore has to special order it for me. Before I found that feed, I crushed up some cat food (30%) and mixed
it in with chick starter. Don't know if that was good for them or not but they sure did like it!!

I have 4 1 week old poults in with week old Serama, they get along fine!

My turkeys are in a brooder with buff chicks. I got 28% game bird starter at souther states. Good luck. Mine are 6 weeks old now. The plus is the chicks teach the turkeys where the food and water are.

if your turkeys are heritage types, I use 23% and they do great and I've got a single turkey poult with my chicks 10+ weeks becouse he so much older than the rest, I found the egg in a snow bank and it hatched,

I'm very happy to hear I can put it with the chicks and ducks. I have the 20% chick food and kitten food on hand. If I mixed that Would it work for higher protein? Would it hurt the other ducks or chicks to eat it?

If not giving medicated to the turkey poult and chicks you can expect to more than likely have a battle with cocci sometime in the near future being in with ducks
ducks are very sloppy with water and feed and there fore an on set of cocci is almost a guarantee in this wet situation..Just somthing to think about and watch for

Best of luck with the mix

It is just in with the ducks for now because the duck brooder is in the house and I wanted to watch it. I've always heard turkeys are hard to raise so I want to make sure its eating and drinking before I put it in bird building in the big brooder with the chicks.
