Ah ha, found you! I figured that I couldn't be the only one weaving!

I am a beginer at basket weaving, claiming that I'm taking my theropy money and buying supplies! LOL

Can someone answer a really stupid question??? Why do they have patterns for cookie jars or canisters if there aren't any liners in these baskets...? I made a cookie jar, its great, but I'll never put cookies in it!
Either way, its something to keep my hands, mind busy while dealing with the stress of the loss of my mom.

How else could you spend a moment of zen,
oblivious to the real world,
over and under,
round and round,
crafting baskets is a joy I have found!

I am very sorry for your loss of your mom. I am sure zen is very helpful right now.

Regarding your question, since baskets are rarely an exact science it is very hard to make even a same pattern basket the same way twice. I am sure you could sew up a liner once you measure your basket and add about an inch to each measure to allow for seams. FYI, I lived in the country and something like a basket for cookies would be very attractive to mice and moths.
Better to display some nice linens or pinecones in a basket like that. Welcome to our chatroom too! Nice to meet you

Thank you, I too would have pantry moths, mice, and what ever else wanders through!
I'll post some of my own baskets and please I'd love to see some of the ones you've all done!

The egg baskets I made free hand, a few twinning and some weaving. Simple for a simple girl

One day I'm going to try to make some like that. I make mine out of pine needles (which are all over here) and all I have to buy is the raffia so it's a cheep hobbie for me. Some times I make bases from scrap wood I get from friends.

Farm girl - I would love to see your baskets as well.

This one is about 18" across with amber beads from a broken necklace I got at a yard sale for 2.00.

Another work in progress.

This one is a little beat up but it is one of my favorites. It sits on my coffee table as a catch all.

we are all wannabe's! No one person is any better then another when it comes to baskets.

Peewee, omg beautiful baskets, those are super creative and clever! The woman I get my reed from was on vacation and needless to say, I was running out of supplies, so instead of waiting a day...I had to do it "today", ugh... So I made a kitty bed basket, that way they won't fall off the desk they sleep on! Last thing I want is a kitty with a kink in its tail!!!!!
