Bathing chickens for show?

Have you got space to quarantine these two from your other birds for at least 30 days after the show?

They may bring back diseases from other birds at the show back to your flock.

This is really important if you don’t want to risk losing the whole flock.

And bear in mind that the stress the birds suffer by travelling and being caged in a strange smelling place with unfamiliar humans handling them and chaotic bird noise all around them, will make them more vulnerable to catching something as stress suppresses their immune systems. Respiratory infections particularly.

It isn't just covid that is around.
These two are the only two in their flock.

Also, there are only two other birds being shown, and they are being shown by the same person, so I am hopeful that diseases are less likely to be shared.

You are taking them to a show with a total of 4 birds entered?
Then you may not have much to worry about. Just make sure they are clean and free of lice and mites.

There are three AZ shows and two NM shows coming up. I would go to one of them, observe and ask questions.

If other people who own poultry are there, disease can still be shared.

Thanks! I will look into the shows.

I am glad I don't have much to worry about. I seriously debated on this. I got my older girls during last year's fair (not from the fair, from a hatchery) so I couldn't show them then. We got these ones specifically for show, since they were all supposed to be bantams and we didn't expect great egg production. Two were roosters, one is an ISA Brown, and the last is the Bantam Cochin pullet we expected.
