I purchased some frizzles and Polish today. They are very dirty. Can I use dishwashing soap- like DAWN to clean them yp? Would Baby Shampoo work better?
Thanx

They use dawn on birds rescued from oil spills, so I would think it is ok. I bathe my chickens whenever they are dirty. I use a mild bath soap though and warm water. I rinse them well after and then use a blow dryer to dry them off. It is important to not let them get a chill after. They seem to like it, I think they like the warm of the water and they like being clean.

Thanks Denise! I have Johnson and Johnson Baby Shampoo and some DAWN. I think maybe it'll try 'em both to see which they like best!
Nothing worse than a bird that should be all white looking like a spotted thing

I jet spray mine with a hose connected to a barrel full of warmish water...

I just read a thread that said the people that show chickens don't use shampoo or soap. They say it takes out all the natural oils from their feathers. They just use unfiltered apple cider. The picturs of the birds after cleaning were so shinny .

How do I get their whites white? My white cochins look yellowish dirty even after bathing...

Thanks!
