Do you do anything special to get your chickens clean? When our Cornish Rock X were intended for a 4-H project, we were prepping them by giving them a bath when they were really nasty. Long story...short version..No longer gonna be shown as 4-h project in fair. I was late with paperwork.

Anyways, Do you bathe your birds? Mine didn't like it. I don't know if its needed, but they sure look gorgeous when clean.

Yes, at 143 degrees for about 30 seconds. They don't like it at all, but they come out clean as a whistle!

I bathed my turkeys in my tub because they were nasty when I first got them. They stunk and felt like velcro. We have one of those detachable showerheads and it reaches almost to the bottom of the tub, they got a nice shower rinse. One actually loved it.

Please, please tell me that you're talking about a washtub in your garage, and that this didn't happen in your actual bathtub...

We use Quic Silver Horse shampoo on the white meat chickens, works like a charm. I can honestly say you are not alone in the home bathtub. We have since bought plastic totes, one of soaking, one for letting the shampoo work for 5 minutes and another to rinse. It's a real assembly line process for those pesky dirty 4H birds but it works.
