bathtub slaughtering

Has anybody slaughtered chickens in the bathtub? It sounds easy to clean up.

It may be easy to wash the blood down the drain, but it would smell and the feathers would be a big mess. Much easier to do it outside and then hose everything down.

I think it would be a huge mess, personally. Yes, you could drain the blood, but unless you have a good cone or some way to contain the bird, you're going to get flapping and blood all over the place. Then, you have feathers and innards......those aren't going down the drain! I'd say find a good spot outside, use a large trash can and find somewhere to hang the bird from--tree, swing set, whatever--and use the hose.

You could try it, but I'd bet it would be the first and last time.

I use old tarps to contain feathers, bags for guts, cone killing, and realise I am not in the perfect yard suburbs anymore, and not in the condo, and am not in the city where I used to be. You would clog your tub and drain severely.
