I have one remaining mix egg in my bator which may not hatch until Sunday(no idea when laid, was given a dozen 2 1/2 weeks ago) and I had some silkies mailed to me yesterday. I need to modify my bator because I threw it together because the eggs(mix) were last second. With my set-up my digital springfield precise temp says humidity is only 48 % and most eggs hatched no problem. I bought hardware cloth and small drip pans (grill type 6x9) to add a bigger surface area of water to bring humidity up. Should I put one pan or two in? What is the ideal humidity for these silkie eggs? The other thing is the last hatch made a big mess and I want to clean it up before the eggs get here (probably tomorrow, maybe Sat) what do I do with my last egg while I clean out the bator and try to reset it to better humidity?
Thanks
Krista
