bator humidity question

Hi all..I set my bator early this morning, I ran it all night with temp at 99.7 humidty 45% with no eggs..now the temp is 100.5 and the humidity is up to 61%..should I do something about the humidity..would adding a dry sponge take it down?

If you have water in your bator you need to remove some of it to lower the humidity. Opening a vent on it might help also. Just remember humidity requirements vary depending on what your hatching.

All chicken eggs...will try to remove some water..I put a very small amount in wells..2 tbls.maybe but it is rainy and wet here too..thanks

It's very wet and rainy here in Virginia as well. I had to remove the water from mine to get the humidity down. It's running in the 40's with no water in it just from all the rain here.

O.K. I took everything out of the bator checked the wells and there is no water..so now what..I have two temp/hydrometers inthere and they are reading almost the same ..I guess my question now is..will the humidity come down after running for 8-10 hrs or so? Any suggestions?

I run my humidity between 55% and 60% til Day 18 and then boost up to between 65% and 70%. I had a 100% hatch rate so that is what I'm sticking with this time around too. My temp bounces between 99.5 and 100.5.

Some will tell you my humidity level is fine, so will say it is too high. I'm finding out it all comes down to what works for you and gives you success. My neighbor did a dry hatch method keeping humidity between 30% and 40%, then on Day 18 boosting to 50-55% and only got 1 hatch out of 10.
