I don't think there are many if any groups like that in the US. Check with your local ASPCA, Humane Society, Animal control etc. Is there any large scale chicken farms around you? Maybe check with them.

Good luck,

IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THAT! Alot of time laying hens are literally incenerated when there layng time is up, i would rescue them all if i could! I hope someone has a "connection" !

I have seen them sold at our local livestock auction. They bring them in by the truckload sometimes. The few times I've seen them, they go for about $.50 each.

something to keep in mind, that the battery hens have been given shots that our normal hatchery chicks have not. I believe it's the Newcastle Disease, but not sure. You will guaranteen the new battery hens, and everyone looks good, and when your original flock and the battery hens met, or maybe even cross contamination, you will see your original flock becoming sick and dying off, and it's due to the difference in the exposure.

I know somebody out there has more information, but this was also an idea I was thinking about as well, until I read something about it. Sorry I don't remember any more than that. or even where I had read it.
