Hi. Our hens have mites. I tired using permethrin premise spray in the coops & dusted the hens. I’m supposed to repeat Saturday. I’ve had it with these boogers. So I ordered Elector PSP. Planning on total cleaning again, and spray the birds. Do I need to spray the ground too? Is it the same dilution for the coops and the hens themselves? Is it truly a once and done thing? Or do I have to repeat it again? Thanks for all your help.

I used Elector when my chickens had northern fowl mites a couple of years ago. It truly was a "one and done" affair and thank goodness. Per the advice of @azygous I mixed up a bucket of the Elector/water and dunked every chicken. You could spray them, of course, but I had more than 100 to do. I used the same dilution to spray the coops down, floor included, but not the ground outside or in the run.

Thank you!!! We have 14 hens. I think dunk or spray depends on how cold it will be. 😬

You're welcome. Yes, definitely depends on the weather. Spraying them would probably be much less waste for the amount of hens you have, and you won't have the drying time :p

When you dunked them did you dunk their heads under water too???

I used permethrin successfully. Elector may work once and done but their fact sheet also says for mites repeat applications may be needed.
This is for permethrin. Maybe you weren't mixing the correct concentration.
