I would guess that it is because it is banned for poultry. No one wants to be held liable.will do. thank you.
Why do they suggest a lifetime egg withdrawal? Any idea? For an antibiotic? Hmmm.

because I never get sick, so never need antibiotics anyway.
Thank you!! I had a feeling there was more to the story. I am not culling an otherwise healthy 6 month old hen who enjoys life so much. But the cough does concern me as I don’t want her to begin to suffer if we can’t find a treatment and she seems to have some trouble breathing. No wheezing or sneezing or runny nose or eyes, no rattling or congestion. Just open beak, some apparent shortness of breath now and then and a persistent coughIt was banned for poultry on farms because farmers were using it to prevent illness, not cure illness. I am in the same boat. I just finished my girl with Baytril and not knowing which egg was hers, I had to throw ALL of the eggs away. It's been a few days, and I will be eating all of the eggs, because there is no way I am going to throw away eggs forever. I have read on here people have waited a couple of weeks and still consume they eggs. BUT for me, I am not worried about resistance to antibiotics....or whatever the reason why you can't eat the eggs because I never get sick, so never need antibiotics anyway.
My rooster has been having this gurgling sound since early February. I used tylan 50 for five days and over the counter / bird Baytril for five days. Every time, he got well initially, but the gurgling sound came back two or three days after the full course of each antibiotics (Tylan and Baytril) was completed. I took him to the vet, who thought I might have not given enough Baytril to him and prescribed Baytril again for him for 7 days. I have never heard that Baytril can be given for more than 5 days. Correct me if I am wrong. Two questions: 1. Is it safe to give Baytril for 7 days, and 2. Will giving baytril the second time for a longer period of time cause antibiotic resistance?I can't really tell if Baytril helped to be honest. She is acting the same. I would suggest this for your issue:

I am not sure we you are located, but you can only get it from the UK, and if you live in the US customs might catch it, but I got it eventually with a warning that I cannot buy this again. (It's an all natural product) I haven't had the need to use it yet, but I heard GREAT things about it.
