Hi everybody, today I took my 47 pounds, 3 years old turkey Charles for an emergency vet visit. He has an infection due to bumblefoot in his knee. Long story short, the only vet I could find available to see him is not avian expert, so I don’t trust the dose he was given. The doc prescribed Baytril 1.5 ml once a day. I had bad experiences with vets not expert in birds, so I am always cautious, but out regular vet couldn’t see him for the next two weeks, so I had to! Please let me know that it’s all ok!
Attaching a pic of Charles riding comfortably in my car LOL

Baytril treats a number of bacteria, and is a great antibiotic. Dosage for poultry, if you are using 10% liquid Baytril or Enrofloxacin is 0.05 ml per pound of weight given orally twice a day. By my calculations at 47 multiplied by 0.05 ml is 2.35 ml twice a day. Since I am not familiar with turkeys or large birds, I will tag @casportpony to see if that seems correct to her. Be sure to let us know exacrly what type of Baytril you have to use.

I wish it said! I tried to call the vet, but they’re already closed. All the bottle reads is Baytril (Endofloxacin oral) 60 ml
