I bought Baytril 10% for my chicken with E.Coli. Can anyone tell me how much I will give her? She is pretty weak and has had sour crop for awhile. I took her to the Vet and she gave her Tylan powder which did absolutely no good at all. Please help! I know some people are against Baytril for poultry but at this point, I have nothing to loose. She is skinny, hasn't had nutrients for days and she will die anyway if this doesn't help. I am at a loss. Thanks!

10 mg per kg of bird weight, 2 times a day, so every 12 hours. So you need to get a weight, an inexpensive digital kitchen scale works well. 1 kg = 2.2 lb
So a 6 lb bird would get 6 / 2.2 = 2.7, 2.7 x 10mg = 27 mg

Agreed, the 10% solution has 100mg of medication per ml, so to get the 27mg needed that would be about 1/4 ml from the bottle. I should have been more clear in my answer. The dosage that PoultryDVM recommends for e coli is 10-15 mg/kg, which is what we've said here.

Some vets say egg withdrawl is forever with Baytril. Baytril is not licensed for use in poultry, but is often prescribed for pets. Some will say a 28 day withdrawl for eggs, a forever withdrawl for eating the meat. So..... without a vet to advise, I would do at least a month, then you will have to decide what you are comfortable with. The issue is antibiotic resistant bacteria.
