My 3-year-old Brahma hen, Seana, has been having some reproductive tract issues (funky weak-shelled eggs) for over a year now. Just last week I found her standing in the corner of the coop facing the wall, looking droopy and pale, and having yellow-tinged poops. I brought her into the hospital crate for treatment and observation and gave her daily calcium+D3 tablets for a week or so and a round of the antibiotics I had on hand which was LA-200. Overnight she expelled more of what I am assuming was egg yolk and her mood improved significantly. Today she is acting like a normal chicken, but I found what appeared to be lash material in the hospital crate.

So...should I start her on Baytril or does LA-200 usually work for salpingitis?

How recently did you give her the LA200?

Tetracyclines can be given to treat Salpingitis. If she responds well with that, I'd try it again.

Thanks! She was given 0.2cc/lb of LA-200 on the 15th and 17th.
The Baytril has already been ordered and should arrive this week. Is it worth a try?
Since you gave the LA200 so recently, then I'd go with the Baytril.

Hopefully that will help with the inflammation and buy her some time.
