Hello everyone ~smile~ I need to tap into your expertice. We originally had 3 Silkies and then I discovered the fiesty, little BB Red's. In my chicken ignorance, I went out and got myself a BB Red Rooster and two hens and put them in with our Silkies. For the most part they got along all right (my poor little Roo had to concede to the Big Silkie Rooster
). But they all slept okay in the Coop, the BB Reds on a roost in the coop and the Silkies on the bottom of the coop. Okay, so, I got tired of seeing my poor Roo try to protect his girls from the Silkie Rooster. We built a caged enclosure next to the Silkies and have a temporarty coop set up for my BB Reds with plenty of perch's in thier "caged yard" and one perch inside the temp coop <~the perch inside the coop MAY be too high for them. My BB's LOVE their new enclosure......... but, at night they are sleeping on the outdoor perch instead of in their new coop!! Every morning I find an egg in the coop, but they aren't sleeping in there... is that okay? They've been in this new enclosure for two nights so far.
