How can I successfully raise a few BBB's as pets, and ensure the longest possible healthy/comfortable life span for them? (I understand it will be shorter than the Heritage Bronze's lifespan, but have had absolutely no luck finding 3 - 5 purebred Heritage Bronze poults that won't cost $125 - $150 to purchase/ship to Oregon, and that's out of our price range, unfortunately.)
So I had a BBB many years ago (pic attached) who was the best "little" buddy ever! I had no idea of their unsuitability as pets at the time due to their vastly shortened life span and, as BBB's are wont to do, he passed away at about 18 months, breaking my heart.
I've heard that with restricted diets & exercise they can live longer/more comfortable lives than otherwise, but I can't seem to find out what that would entail. I have chronic health issues that interfere with my ability to be really active, so I need to make sure I can give them the diet/exercise etc that they'll need before I commit to getting them.
Thank you in advance for any advice you might have!
