Hey everybody; the BBS (LF) Orpington eggs I was incubating have been hatching, and so far I've got three chicks hatched healthy out of eight eggs (one egg nearly exploded.)
And I was wondering if y'all could give me some advice on their adult color? I know all about the blue genetics, the black blue splash stuff, but am not positive how to tell it in young orpingtons.

The three chicks nearly all look the same, and I'm guessing blue, and maybe a dark blue:

Thanks~!

I really like these orpingtons so far though; I've owned buff orpingtons before, but never these BSS.
I got them from Henthyme.

I am no expert here but I think the ones that are pretty uniformly grey are your blues and the ones that are more mottled looking or have different color down are your splash chicks. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in. Cute chickies!

And that's what I would think but, so many chicks turn a different color when they get bigger...I know with silkies it's easier to tell, because the splash are more gray/yellowish.
