I can't wait! I'm still very new to owning my own chickens, though I've wanted them for years and have learned a lot during that time. I've also got friends who have had them for a long time, including one who regularly breeds. So she's a good resource for me.that will be exciting!
As for my Orpingtons, I'm getting 12 more straight run chicks around April, and I'm hoping to add all the females from that group and possibly 2 males, just depending on who turns out to be what sex amd what color, lol.
I've got d'Uccles in 3 colors right now and my bantam cochins in several colors. I've got 2 older (15 and 10 weeks) red females, but my other 14 chicks are only 2 weeks old. So I don't yet know who is male or female in that group. I have 3 blacks, 2 partridge, 1 white, and the rest I think are mainly buff, possibly a few reds. Time will tell.
I definitely plan to breed just to grow amd sustain my own flock at first, and for some friends who are interested. I do have an interest in one day breeding to sell, but I know I've got a ton to learn before I'm ready for that.
that will be exciting!
