I think I got quite a few girls, fortunately!

Beautiful bunch of chicks, they are!

I see a couple of boy looking babies but I would have guessed the third photo blue a pullet. I can be wrong. They develop slow sometimes. I have a group of Blacks and a few blues in a pen that hatched on Feb1st and four of the boys are crowing already. I don't think I have had Orpington Cockerels crow that young to often. They are so cute getting in competition with each other.

Yes, isn't that funny that I have'nt hatched one that light color of blue. I love it.

Bamachicken, is there a value difference in the shades of blue? Is there one shade to be preferred? I have a few blues, and there is one that is very dark compared to the other two.

I think the main difference would be in the Lacing on the feathers in the pullets. I prefer a medium blue with good lacing for the females but I have some darker ones that look as well. I like the color from the head to the hackles to be nearly black. On the males you want to have nearly a black Saddle with a medium shade undercoat
Here is a picture of my male blue to show you what I mean in the Cock birds. I think he has a awesome color.

These are some of my dark blue girls who have good lacing but I think the when showing the judges seem to like lighter color.

Here is a very light blue but I like them to be just a shade darker with little better lacing than this girl of mine.

This pullet has really good lacing and color. she did well in a show last fall.

Still this a favorite girl of mine. I just like everything about her.

That last girl IS stunning- thank you for those pictures- that helps me see what to look for! I have one blue girl who is about 9 weeks old and has really nice lacing- her head is not dark, however. Or at least not yet- can that come in later? I also have two little 5 week old pullets, but I think they are too young to tell yet. I will try for some pics today sometime.
Is is my computer, or is there a touch of violet in the blue on your girls??? It seems almost multi colored and it is gorgeous!

I cannot wait for my Julie eggs to hatch, this has been the hardest clutch for me to incubate - as far as me waiting.

Julie - I love the face of your lighter blue girl, she looks kind and wise (3rd pic) and the last (your fav) is a knock-out

I don't have related birds, and I don't want to steal your thread, but you are one of the best Blue breeders on here, and I have a lot to learn- your pictures have helped a lot!! When I start threads, they never seem to go anywhere- don't know if I ask the wrong questions or what!!

I think this two month old girl's feathering is fairly nice- should her head be darker? Sorry they are all huddled up - I just got them and they are shy with me - they wouldn't go outside.

Here are my one month olds-

This is my roo- he is 23 weeks old. I know he has too many comb points and is long in the back, but he is big, and I think his coloring is pretty good? His cape and saddle feathers are just starting to waterfall down him. They look like some feathers are grey in there, but I think it's just the light hitting him-
