My son and husband went down to Georgia and bought new chicks from Jessy. It was a very long drive! Anyway this was back in September and they are still not laying eggs yet. I know there are some roosters but not all of them are boys ....but I would think the girls (hens) should be laying eggs by now! We have some chickens here we hatched out after those purchased golden egg layers which are already laying and have been for a long while. What is up with those BCM? They are getting the high grade feed so that is not the problem and all the water they care to drink. Any suggestions?

Watch for the combs on the pullets to turn a brighter red, that's a sign they'll be laying soon. Give them a layer feed with higher protein....
I've also taken away the roosters when the pullets are on the verge of laying. Sometimes they seem stressed out and they seem to be running all the time because of the roosters trying to mate with them.

11 months? Did I read that correctly? Ours are not stressed at all they get to free range and have fun all day plus are already get the very high protein feeds. THanks Guys...awaiting for those golden darkest eggs

Yes you read right, they were going on 100 months old and mine were not stressed either, they kinda of free ranged also........

I should also add the roosters if they are breeding anyone sure are not acting like a true roo....
They are very docile for even the docile type roosters but I know they are not pullets they are guys by their feathers..... I hate this waiting. And the bad thing is we have some hens that lay a darker egg just not a chocolate so now my husband is trying to second guess himself thinking maybe they are laying just not chocolate eggs. Going out today and doing the finger width test and the comb check. let you guys know thanks

Im sorry, I meant 10, not 100. My roos werent acting like roos either, they acted like they didnt know what a hen was, but once I got my frist egg and got them in their own pens, the boys knew what to do and how and have doing a good job at being a roo. I know how you are feeling, Ive been there. Hang in there and good luck with them.............
