Hello everyone! This spring, in March, I'm going to be getting 12 chicks and my plan is to raise them from the coop starting on day one. I know they need a heat lamp and in the design I need a place where the heat lamp can be in one corner. Until I make my final selections for breeding purposes, which will take around six months, I need the coop to be able to hold 12 cockerels/pullets. Questions:
-What should be the dimensions for the coop?
-What should the dimensions be for the run?
-Is it possible to have a wall that can fold down for easy access to clean
Any suggestions or plans are much appreciated!

Go bigger than you think you need...a walk in coop is best for ease of maintenance.
Extra/separate spaces for adding new birds/chicks and storing feed/supplies.

Think about this for chick heat instead of a lamp:

You've had chicken all summer, correct?......what about your present coop could be improved upon?

Yes I have had chickens all summer however their current coop is an old treehouse. It'd be virtually impossible to separate it or split in half for the new chickens.
