Colour and speckles will most likely variety. In different seasons her eggs may get slightly darker or slightly lighter. Sometimes her eggs will have less speckles and sometimes more. But, I'd say their will always be quite a few speckles on her eggs. One of my BCM hens just started laying a couple weeks ago…her eggs are pretty small so far and all very speckled…I know they should get larger but will they likely always be speckled?

Yes, in most cases it is a genetic trait. It is entirely up to you if speckled eggs would be considered a 'flaw' in your breeding flock. BCM's standards of perfection doesn't cover speckles on eggs, I don't think it really matters. If you were to go to a poultry show, they would be studying the chicken itself, not their eggs. In other words, they wouldn't ask you to bring their eggs to check if the chickens are up to the SOP.If I’m going to work on a breeding flock is that considered a flaw. Would that be genetically passed down or no?
