Hello everyone! So as the title says, we have a BCM chick that has white where the copper color should be. It's also missing the leg feathers that our other BCM have. What happened with this chick?

Our BCM come from two separate lines. One line consists of a single hen with dark copper color. The other line consists of two hens and a rooster and the copper color is much lighter, closer to a gold. Should we be focused on breeding for the darker or lighter copper color? Which one is breed specific?

Hmm that hatch did contain Ameraucana eggs. The Ameraucana chicks are all blue color but it's possible that one of the black adults was a parent, and there's also a white rooster out there. It doesn't seem to have the large puffy cheek muffs like the blue ones have.

Everybody was separated so there should have been no mixing of breeds.

I figured since it had the similar color layout, though wrong color, that it was a BCM. Now I'm curious what it will look like as an adult.
