Hi all,
A few months ago my matriarch broke her beak running from a bobcat into the side of the coop (she was inside - bobcat was out and kept out by the run). We treated her beak and she healed just fine.

Today I noticed that the two sides of her top beak have now overgrown, leaving the center with a little split up the middle. She is eating, drinking and being the queen pubah of the coop just fine. She is friendly, but they are backyard chickens not pets (in the cuddly sense of the word) and I would rather not subject her to a beak trimming and holding her head still unless I need to.

As long as it doesn't bother her, is it okay to leave it. Or will it get worse and cause trouble if I don't trim it back now?

any advice?
thanks

It may split, I would trim. Do it at night while she's sleepy. Just clip the excess with some finger or toenail clippers. Easy peesey!
