Beak Question..it looks like it is jsut being eaten away

Brand new chicken owner ....
I have 2 Road Island Red , 2 Sex Links and 2 Sultans...one turned out to be a Roo!

My little Female Sultan seems to be shunned from the rest of the group lately....
They tolerate her from a distance but peck at her if she gets to close.....( they don't seem to be picking on her out of meanness that I have observed)......
she has been very docile when picked up....which made me notice her beak while I was petting her .......the beak looks hard and normal at the tip...but midway back to her what I call her forhead(comb area)...it looks as if it is just being eaten away???????

...I have book with some diseases in it but nothing on beak problems other than trimming! Help any ideas??????

first thing i'd do is seperate her from them..then some of these guys on here will chime in to help you..cause i know nothing..i'm new to having them also..can u get a pic?..it will help them alot...Wendy

I brought her in the house and my hubby tried to help me photograph her...hard to see what i am talking about.....

Two of my roosters got into a fight last spring and that happened to them. When I noticed it I thought they were doomed. I did give them antibiotics and put some medicine on their beaks. I can't remember what I gave them, but their beaks both grew back. It was the same half way down and looked like it had been eaten away. I was just sick. But it turned out well. So at least there is hope. And I hope someone comes up with the proper treatment for you.

If the other chickens see blood (red), they may be pecking her. It's hard to tell because the photos are pretty small, so hopefully someone with more experience will see these and help out.

It was very difficult to photograph her but hope you can see well enough to see what I am talking about! I haven't seen actual blood......
the Roo Sultan is very Red in the areas I tried to show you....so I know her coloring is off for sure......

I think it's a combination of poor nutrition..(from being bullied away from feed)
certain deficiencies can cause this crusty and weak beak..
and pecking injury..

make up this mixture:

1 cooked chopped egg yolk…..
1 teaspoon honey…(optional)
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
3 tablespoons water cooked oatmeal
some regular feed to give substance.
make puffy, not soupy

divide mix into thirds, and give 3 times a day.
do this for at least 3-4 days..then give at least once a day for week.
separate the bird so it can eat without competing..
also have regular feed and water available at all times, and won't get pecked causing further damage to the beak..
no scratch.

also..get some Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins, Enfamil brand if possible..no iron..give by drops on beaks..
3 drops twice a day for 3 days, then once a day for a week, tapering off for a week.
(found at most pharmacies, even Walmart in the vitamin section)

keep an eye on droppings and behavior.
topical antibiotic applied to bad areas of beak could help..something suitable for mouth sores if possible.
(for humans or animals if you can get it)
terramycin eye ointment might work.
(found at farm/feed/livestock stores)
