Beak shedding normal?

I have 2- 5 mo old rouens and they seem healthy but I noticed their beaks are peeling a fine layer off. is this nornal? they do dig around in sand for soil.

I have read in the Pekin thread of ducks doing this and they say it is normal so I'd say probably so with yours too. My Muscovy's haven't had peeling bills yet. You might want to post on the Rouen duck thread though and talk to those who have this breed.
